U.V.Patel College of
Engineering (UVPCE) is an Institute of Technology situated inside Ganpat
Vidyanagar, Mehsana, Gujarat campus. UVPCE, which was named in honor of Gujarat
industrialist Ugarchandbhai Vanarasibhai Patel who donated Rs. 12.5 million to
its foundation, was established in September 1997. Approved by the All India
Council For Technical Education, UVPCE is a self-financed component of
Ganpat University situated on 25 acres (10 ha)
Campus
UVPCE is situated on the Ganpat Vidyanagar education
campus, about 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) away from Mehsana and 45 kilometres
(28 mi) from Gandhinagar. The campus complex is named in honor of
industrialist Ganpatbhai Ishwarbhai Patel, who donated Rs. 115 million towards
its construction. While UVPCE is on 25 acres (10 ha), the entire education
campus contains more than 300 acres (120 ha). The campus holds separate
hostels for male and female students and offers dining and shopping facilities.
The campus features green spaces and solar powered street lights. The campus is
under management of the Mehsana District.
Academics
Since 1997, UVPCE has offered courses in Computer
Engineering and Information Technology. In 1998 and 1999, it added Electronics
& Communication Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering and has
subsequently expanded with several additional courses:
Mechanical Engineering (2001), Biomedical Engineering (2001) and
Civil Engineering (2008), Marine Engineering (2012). In addition, it
offers two Master Of Technology degrees in Mechanical Engineering — Advanced
Manufacturing Techniques (2006), and CAD/CAM (2007) — and a Master of Computer
Application (2007).Also offers Masters in Computer Engineering,Information Technology,Electronics
& Co.and Electrical.
Student body
The school accepts students who have achieved acceptable
scores on the Science Stream of the Higher Secondary Education (45% open
category; 40% reserved category) and who have completed necessary subject work.
Amenities
Infrastructure Facilities
In a short span of time the college has developed strong
infrastructure facilities. The laboratories of all the departments are
well-equipped and provide state-of-the-art learning facilities.

List Private Universities and Important Notice by UGC about them
As per the UGC Circular in June 2009, the UNIVERSITY GRANT COMISSION (UGC) has identified the following Institutions as Private Universities in India, established by the Acts of the Legislatures of different States.
As per the UGC (Establishment of and Maintenance of Standards in Private Universities) Regulations, 2003 and against the judgment in case of Prof. Yash Pal & Others vs. State of Chhatisgarh & Others,
1. These State Private Universities are not competent to affiliate colleges and start off-campus centre(s) beyond the territorial jurisdiction of their State.
2. . These universities are competent to award degrees as specified by UGC under Section 22 of the UGC Act and with the approval of the statutory councils, wherever required through their main campus. Wherever the approval of the statutory council is not a pre-requisite to start a programme, the universities are required to maintain the minimum standards regarding academic and physical infrastructure as laid down by the concerned statutory council.
3. It is also informed that private universities cannot affiliate an institution/college. They cannot establish off campus centre(s) beyond the territorial jurisdiction of the concerned State. However, they can establish off-campus centre(s) within the concerned State after their existence of five years and with the prior approval of the University Grants Commission. So far, UGC has not approved any off campus centre(s) of any Private University.
4. Approval letters for course under distance mode should clearly state that the course has been approved by the Joint Committee UGC, AICTE and DEC and the approval letter should be jointly signed by Secretary UGC , Member Secretary, AICTE and Director, DEC as per the provision laid down under clause 9 of the MOU signed by UGC, AICTE and DEC.
5. Students/Public at large are advised to go through www.ugc.ac.in carefully before taking admission in any of the below State Private Universities and report the matter to Secretary, UGC on finding any violation of the above provisions
